Subject: Teaneck Snow Emergency Parking Rules
So Monday morning's storm didn't amount to more than a dusting. But with winter
officially starting this morning, a real snow storm can't be that far away. In
order to allow the snow plows to properly clear the roads, Teaneck prohibits
on-street parking (except in designated areas) during a snow fall that requires
plowing and until the streets have been cleared. Keep this in mind if you will
be travelling, as your vehicle can be ticketed or towed if it's on the street
during a snowfall in your absence.
Parking on all streets, except as expressly posted, is prohibited whenever snow
is falling and the accumulation is such that it covers the public streets in the
Township and plowing is required. Here are the specific rules and other
information:
Parking is prohibited until the Township has sufficiently plowed all Township
streets and to the extent that parking will not interfere with the normal flow
of traffic and snow removal.
See
http://www.TeaneckNJGov.org/departments/publicworks/snowplowing.htm for a
list of the streets/areas which are exempt from the restriction.  However,
please note that even if a street/area is exempt from the "emergency no parking
during snow" restriction, any other existing parking restrictions are still in
effect, including enforcement of all State laws.
Hourly limits, and fees, in municipal parking limits will be waived six hours
before a snowfall is predicted until 24 hours after the snow has ceased to fall.
For a list of the municipal parking lots click on
http://www.TeaneckNJGov.org/departments/publicworks/snowplowing.htm and
scroll down for the nineteen off-street parking locations.
Plan early by finding alternate locations for their vehicles as soon as snow is
predicted to fall as this on-street parking restriction is vigorously enforced
by the issuance of ticket and possible towing of vehicles.
If residents are unable to remove their vehicle from the street or have any
questions as to whether or not the DPW is plowing during a snow event please
immediately contact the Teaneck Police Department at 201-837-2600.
If you have any concerns about snow plowing during a snow event, please contact
the DPW at 201-837-4842 during regular business hours. During all other hours,
including holidays, please contact the Teaneck Police Department at
201-837-2600.
