Subject: [TeaneckShuls] what to do w/ the kids
Dear T'neck'ers,
Guaging from the responses I got re my posting what to do w/ the kids, apparently nobody knows about the Palisades Mall. We went there today & it was great. Besides the shopping, there is a movie theather, a mini Sportsworld, a 4D short interactive movie and an IMAX. It is good for at least 4 hours of fun for kids of all ages. Moshe FUld

i asked for day trips and many people emailed me for info that i got ,
i really only received one email with alot of things to do, so i thank that person and i am forwarding the list:
here are a few ideas

*in queens right over triboro bridge ther is a museum called museum of the moving image. it has a lot of hands on activities. just know that no strollers, and parking is a little tough, but not impossible. it is not far from flushing meadow park which has the science museum and a zoo with a carousel, and a playground for all children. (one or two days)

*bronx botanical garden has a great children's garden and activity center

*staten island has a zoo, and there is also some great, empty parks and a children's center (forgot what it's called) all not far from the ferry which is fun for those who have never done it.

*madison square garden has a back lot tour. you get to go into the different locker rooms and if you go when the circus is in town, you get to see the performers as they run around in the back

*on the lower east side, the tenement museum and the eldridge street synagogue take your kids back to another era (read them All of kind of family series by sydney taylor)

*if you want to travel a little-in catskills there is minnewaska state park with great trails, or on the same mountain ridge, but more expensive, with easier trails mohonk resort. you go as a day guest and you take a van to the top of the mountain and then hike the trails. (a 6 year old should be able to handle the "lemon squeeze" trail)

*philly has a two days worth of activities (franklin museum, children's museum, duck boats, liberty bell)

*boston (3 1/2hours drive) has a ton of stuff to do. science museum, children's museum, art museum, u.s.s constitution, anoather half hour drive up to salem....this is a big trip. you could go to newtown also

*in tarrytown/kykuit there is the rockefeller mansion, and the phillipsburg manor (hands on colonial villagea) it is around 45 minute drive

*we sometimes found a beach ....quiet at this time of year, and our kids would just dig and play football...no lines, or crowds no cost!
